✨My life is beyond my wildest dreams.✨

At Dartmouth College, I aspired to pursue my passion for food.

Yet, I felt the pressure and expectations from society, family, and culture to pursue a more "stable" career path.

To provide some context:

✨ I am the oldest out of 3 children.

✨ I am a first generation immigrant. My family fled the 1980s military coup in Ghana and settled in New York.

✨ I am African. There are cultural expectations to pursue careers as an engineer, doctor or lawyer.

So, I put my dreams on pause. And, like many people finding their way, I took a detour.

For a decade, I worked as a humanitarian aid for the United Nations, traveling to over 40+ countries across the African continent, providing help in emergency disaster locations.

Yet, food was still at the forefront of my mind. I felt a calling, so I attended The Culinary Institute of America.

In 2014, I founded Midunu, a nomadic private dining experience in Accra, Ghana.

Then, Midunu Chocolates, one of the first artisanal Ghanaian chocolate companies to bring ‘Made in Ghana’ chocolates directly to consumers in Ghana, U.S. and Canada.

Lastly, The Midunu Institute, a non-profit dedicated to documenting and preserving African culinary heritage and indigenous ingredients.

Each of my organizations is a love letter to Africa - a commitment to celebrate and preserve African culinary heritage and indigenous ingredients.

Now, I'm traveling the world sharing my love for African cuisine and sustainable food systems with thought leaders in the industry!

There's no clear path. Sometimes we take detours.

It took me a few years, but I'm finally living the life I've always dreamed of.

Now, I wake up everyday feeling blessed that I took a chance and made my dreams a reality.
